Steele Hill Resort’s Winter Ahead

Steele Hill Resort’s Winter Ahead

Most of the leaves have fallen from the trees and with them, the vibrant colors of autumn have gone. While we have had some warm weather the past few weeks, the chill of winter is just around the corner. The resort grounds will soon be covered with a white blanket of snow. The activities department will be swapping the golf clubs and e-bikes, for ice skates and snowshoes. The maintenance staff will be preparing the snowplows, snow blowers and shovels. While it may be colder and not as colorful here in the lakes region there are still plenty of things to do once the snow falls. If you like outdoor activities and want to stay at the resort we have a variety or possibilities! Explore miles of trails for a fun snowshoe hike, sled down our designated sledding hill, or rent some ice skates and skate on our custom ice rink or on the frozen pond. If you are a skier, Gunstock Ski Area is just a 20-minute drive or travel north to one of the many alternative ski areas New Hampshire has to offer. Want to check out some different outdoor winter activities? Enter one of the many ice fishing derbies, you never know, you may catch the big one! Check out the annual sled dog races that take place in mid-February or join in or spectate at the annual pond hockey tournament. The Ice Castles are another exciting winter event that take place right here in New Hampshire and ticket sales will begin on November 28th.

Outdoors isn’t your thing? Escape into one of our indoor pools to enjoy a warm, tropical experience and order a refreshing beverage from the Oasis Bar to be enjoyed poolside. Visit the Hilltop Restaurant for a delicious meal or have it delivered right to the comfort of your room. The Hilltop offers a great breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays. The activities department hosts many indoor activities every week, where you can enter a game of candy bar bingo, compete in a corn hole or Fortnite tournament, join in on an arts and crafts activity or come test your trivia knowledge on Thursday night in Tova’s Tavern. If you are looking to travel offsite, check out a movie at one of the local theaters, do some shopping at the outlet malls or bowl a string or two and enjoy some nostalgic video games at Funspot.
