As another beautiful fall season comes to an end here in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, we’re looking forward to welcoming winter at Steele Hill Resort! The foliage has faded, temperatures are dropping and it won’t be long before the surrounding hills are covered in snow. There’s something special about this time of year and our team has been busy getting everything ready for the season ahead.
Our maintenance and grounds teams have been hard at work winterizing the property, closing outdoor facilities, preparing snow removal equipment and tackling preventative maintenance projects throughout the resort. It’s a busy time behind the scenes and these efforts help ensure our guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay all winter long.
Once the snow arrives, there’s plenty to enjoy both on and off the property. Our Activities Department will be preparing the sledding hill, ice skating area and more than five miles of trails for snowshoeing. For those looking to hit the slopes, Gunstock Mountain is just a short drive away, with Waterville Valley, Loon Mountain and Cannon Mountain offering even more opportunities for winter fun. The Lakes Region also hosts some great seasonal traditions, including the Meredith Ice Fishing Derby, New England Pond Hockey Classic and Laconia Sled Dog Derby.
Of course, there’s just as much to enjoy indoors! Our heated pools, hot tubs and saunas are especially inviting during the colder months and Vantage Day Spa is always a great option for a little extra relaxation. The Hilltop Restaurant offers a warm atmosphere, delicious meals and some of the best winter views around. Our Activities Department also has a full schedule of family favorites, including bingo, trivia, crafts, games and more.
