A Message From The Manager

We have had a successful year and I want to thank everyone who visited the resort this past year, it was wonderful to see our owners and guests vacationing and enjoying the resort. As I write this message it is a crisp clear fall day up here at Steele Hill most of the leaves have fallen from the trees and it is beautiful day for hike. I know these days are limited and soon the temperatures will drop, the ice will form on the pond and the snow will fly setting up the Lakes Region for all the wonderful winter activities it has to offer. Soon enough the ski areas will be open for downhill and cross-country skiing. Once we have snow on the ground at the resort, we will have snowshoes to rent and use on our onsite hiking trails or try ice skating on the frozen pond! If skiing or skating is not your cup of tea the area offers many outdoor events throughout the winter with the ice castles, pond hockey tournaments, ice fishing derbies, and the annual Laconia sled dog races. If you are a snowmobiler there are trails from the resort that lead to the local and state snowmobile trails.

For those who prefer to stay indoors when the colder weather hits, there are plenty of indoor activities in the area and at the resort as well. You can catch a movie or a live performance at one of the local theaters or test your arcade and bowling skills at Funspot “The world’s largest arcade”. You can also stay warm in one of our indoor pool areas where you can relax in one of the dry saunas, soak in one of 4 hot tubs, or just enjoy a nice swim in the indoor heated pools. We have a fulltime activities department who will be offering indoor activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, and corn hole tournaments. The amenity center has plenty to offer as well with air hockey, gaming stations, ping pong and Foosball.

You can dine in at The Hilltop Restaurant and Tova’s Tavern (open 6 days a week, closed on Wednesdays) or you can also order food or your favorite beverage for pick up or delivery right to your room from the restaurant. The menu includes a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, comfort foods and PIZZA all day long. The Oasis Bar located at the west pool is open Saturdays and Sundays so that you can enjoy your favorite beverage pool side. The Hilltop is also open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, when you can enjoy fresh eggs, bacon or pancakes with maple syrup made from the sap from trees on Steele Hill.

If you are planning a winter vacation to the Lakes Region, I hope you consider Steele Hill Resort as your destination. I know you won’t be bored or disappointed with your stay. We offer many discount promotions such as the Winter Family Fun Package that includes 20% off two or more nights in the accommodations of your choice, a $25 resort gift card as well as fresh baked cookies and hot cocoa in your room upon arrival!

We look forward to your arrival,
Rob Robillard

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy during these difficult times. I can assure you that we here at Steele Hill are doing everything possible and taking all precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy while still offering the best vacation experience possible. We have made some modifications to the front desk check in area by installing a new entrance, building some separation walls and adding glass barriers on the desk. The housekeeping department continues to thoroughly and properly clean and sanitize all guest accommodations. Common areas are cleaned and sanitized on scheduled intervals throughout each day. The maintenance department is getting ready for winter, winterizing all buildings and prepping the trucks and plows for what we hope is a snowy winter.

The food and beverage department is excited to launch an updated menu starting December 1st. You can dine in at the Hilltop or Tova’s Tavern but you can also order food and beverages for pickup or have them delivered right to your room. You can also order food to The Oasis bar at the West indoor pool which will now be open on the weekends for the winter season.

Even with some of the restrictions caused by Covid 19 we still have plenty of winter activities to offer. The indoor pools and Roman spa are open with social distancing and limited occupancy but they still have that tropical feel to them even when it is snowy and cold outside. The indoor gaming stations in the amenities building are open and our activities director, Nancy, is offering daily activities and arts and crafts located at the Carriage House. Once the snow flies be sure to take advantage of our snow shoe rentals and check out all of our hiking trails. Don’t forget to bring your sled and ice skates to enjoy a day on the sledding hill and skating on our pond. If you are a snowmobiler there are connecting trails right from the resort to local and state trails.

While the experience may be a little different this year, the local ski areas are planning to open soon. There are also many other activities and events that take place in the winter season in the area such as ice fishing derbies, sled dog races, pond hockey tournaments and the ice castles in the north country. Be sure to book your vacation at Steele Hill and remember to check out our discount promotions like the Winter Family Fun package that includes 20% off your room as well as freshly baked cookies and hot cocoa.

We hope to see you soon,
Rob Robillard

A Message From the Manager

We had a beautiful and colorful fall season but it is coming to an end as the last few leaves fall from the trees. We have already experienced our first snowfall and the forecast is predicting more frigid temperatures, so I guess it is time to start thinking about our winter season. The maintenance staff is battening down the hatches and preparing the resort for our upcoming winter season. We are stocking up on salt and sand and making sure the plows and shovels are ready for what we hope to be a good snow year.

The Hilltop Restaurant staff is working on some great new comfort food items and delicious winter cocktails that will be sure to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. Stop by our onsite restaurant or bar to enjoy a dinner by the ambient fireplace while overlooking the snow-covered mountains this winter season.

The onset of winter opens the Lakes Region to an abundance of fun activities. The ski slopes will be covered with snow for families to enjoy. Whether you are just learning to ski or you are a veteran skier, New Hampshire’s mountains offer something for every experience level. Soon the ponds and lakes will freeze over allowing for several events that take place on the ice in our area, including the Pond Hockey Classic, car racing on the ice, ice fishing derbies, or the opportunity to just spend time skating or fishing with friends and family.

While onsite, stop by the front desk and rent snowshoes for the whole family to adventure out onto our trail network. Don’t forget to pack your ice skates and sled for some winter fun on our onsite skating pond and sledding hill! If the winter outdoors is not your cup of tea you can always hang out in one of our indoor pools and enjoy the warmth and tropical feel while sipping on one of the many offerings from our bartenders. We hope you choose to come make memories with us here at Steele Hill Resort this winter.

Sincerely,
Rob Robillard
