Celebrate Maple Season in New Hampshire

Celebrate Maple Season in New Hampshire

With the arrival of spring in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region comes one of New England’s most cherished traditions. As warm days and cool nights settle over the forests surrounding Steele Hill Resort, maple trees begin producing the sap that makes maple season possible. For generations, this annual ritual has signaled the changing of seasons and here at Steele Hill, it’s a tradition we’re proud to be part of.

Each year, the maple trees across the Steele Hill property are tapped by Kevin Day of Main Street Maple, a local producer who manages the network of sap lines running through the wooded hillsides surrounding the resort. These lines collect sap from the trees before it is transported to Kevin’s sugarhouse where it is carefully boiled down into pure New Hampshire maple syrup. Our partnership with Main Street Maple allows guests to experience maple season in a truly authentic way. The same trees that line our scenic trails help produce one of New England’s most iconic flavors, connecting visitors directly to the land and traditions that make the Lakes Region so special.

Kevin’s work at Steele Hill also extends into the warmer months, when his beehives located on the resort property produce locally harvested honey that we proudly offer to guests. This connection to local agriculture has even inspired new offerings at our Vantage Day Spa, where we now feature skincare products from Beeline, a New Hampshire-based brand that uses locally sourced honey and beeswax in its products.

For visitors exploring the region in March, maple season also means the return of NH Maple Weekend, when sugarhouses across the state open their doors for tours, demonstrations and tastings. It’s one of New Hampshire’s most beloved spring traditions and a great way to experience the maple sugaring process firsthand.

Whether you’re sampling fresh maple syrup at the Hilltop Restaurant, bringing home locally made products from our Market or exploring nearby sugarhouses, maple season adds a special sweetness to any visit. At Steele Hill Resort, we’re proud to celebrate the traditions, local partnerships and natural beauty that make the Lakes Region such a unique destination.
