10 May 2024 Summer Ahead At Steele Hill Resort
As I write this it is mid-May and while we have not had very many nice warm sunny days you can feel and see mother nature’s changes occurring all around. The trees are blooming, the grass is greener, birds are chirping, frogs croaking and the flowers are starting to pop with color. The Lakes Region as a whole is starting to wake up and it is obvious that the locals are ready for summer; there is an occasional boat out on the lake, people are out hiking and biking and simply enjoying all that the region has to offer.
Here at the resort, we’re gearing up for the bustling summer season ahead. Our maintenance team is busy enhancing the outdoor pools with updated plumbing, filtration systems and a fresh coat of paint. They’re also taking care of exterior paintwork on the West buildings and conducting overall structural maintenance. Inside the accommodations, we’re introducing new artwork, upgrading bathrooms, refreshing the paint, swapping out old appliances, and making essential repairs to ensure everything is in great shape for our guests. The grounds crew is busy opening the golf course, refining the landscaping, planting new flowers, and preparing for the upcoming dreaded mowing season once the grass grows. Meanwhile, our dedicated housekeepers are restocking their supplies, updating the bedding, and performing thorough deep cleans of our rooms.
Our activities department is very busy with weekly activities and getting ready for summer. They are changing up the layout of our laser tag course so it will be different for repeat players. If you haven’t participated in laser tag yet, it’s a wonderful family-friendly activity that is highly recommended. The electric bikes and trails are being prepped and will be available for the upcoming Memorial weekend. We are also working on adding a pickle ball court and an outdoor mega chess set to add to our extensive list of resort activities! We plan to have all the favorite activities this summer such as candy bar bingo, painting, arts and crafts, guided hikes, corn hole tournaments and my favorite, the weekly ice cream social. The weekly activities schedule is posted every Friday, be sure to check it out upon arrival so you can plan to join in on some of the many activities we provide.
The Food and Beverage Department is currently updating our summer food and drink menu. Be sure to sample some of the delicious offerings during your stay! The entire menu is available “to go” where you can pick up your order at the Hilltop Restaurant or opt for delivery right to your room. We will have live entertainment during the summer weeks at both the resort and West outdoor pools, weekly trivia night in Tova’s Tavern and Wildlife Encounters weekly at The Carriage House.

Steele Hill is packed with activities, while the surrounding Lakes Region and New Hampshire boast an abundance of things to do as well. There are great hikes for all levels. You can choose a local trail or take a trip up to the White Mountains for more challenging hikes. Enjoy the local beaches on the area lakes—maybe rent a kayak, paddle board, boat, or jet ski if you’re looking for something more fast-paced. If you haven’t already booked your summer vacation, I encourage you to do so now as we are filling up fast and have many great discount packages to choose from. I hope to see you around the resort this summer.
